So, whether you reach for a sensational sourdough, a wholesome wholemeal, a brilliant baguette, a comforting ciabatta, a raisin-fuelled fruit, or a modest gluten free, reach for a slice and toast the toast this 22 February.
We Brits devour 4.7 billion toasted treats a year, chomping down a dazzling array of toppings, including popular favourites like butter, jam and eggs.
Aidan Monks, the World Bread Awards and Alty Market’s very own National Toast Ambassador, urges us all to get toasting this February. He said: “Toast is simply delicious, the perfect filling snack when you’re in a rush. It’s the UK’s feel good food and without doubt Britain’s most loved food smell…
If you don’t believe me get stuck into the science from the boffins at Cardiff University’s School of Biosciences, who carried out a detailed study and found that the smell of toast triggers memories of happiness… I’m sold, but then I might be a tad biased.’’
He added; ‘So remember to book yourself a slot at one of Alty Market’s top eateries on National Toast Day and savour some totally toasty treats.
Don’t forget you can be part of the world-wide conversation by tweeting on the day @WorldBreadAward using the hashtags #NationalToastDay #Toastbusters and post on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NationalToastDay using the hashtag #NationalToastDay http://www.nationaltoastday.co.uk telling us how you take your toast.
Plus, you’ll be entered in the National Toast Day competition to win toasty prizes, including a Tiptree breakfast hamper bursting with a variety of their delicious preserves and sauces, and two Lakeland Crux Toasters (RRP £70 each).
